What the heck are patio tiles? Paver tiles?  Rustic tiles? Old World tiles?

Arto tiles are known by many names including patio tiles, rustic tiles, paver tiles, and a host of other monikers.  Some, like patio tiles, describe where the tile is usually installed which others, like rustic tiles, allude to the appearance of the tile.  The term “paver tiles” refers to the tile’s intended function; i.e. to “pave” an entryway, walkway, patio, plaza, or other area.

In general, these terms tend to overlap such that the same tile will function as a rustic tile, patio tile, paver tile, or so on.  However, please note that these terms do not limit the potential applications.  Arto paver tile and patio tile can be used for wall paneling or as wall caps.  Similarly, Arto rustic tile can have a much different appearance when specified in more contemporary color tones.

Handmade pavers

All Arto tiles are handmade while most pavers are produced by machines.  Handmade pavers by Arto offer a much more natural appearance due to warmth added by our handcrafting process

Mexican pavers

Mexican pavers are offered in a variety of styles including saltillo tiles, Tecate tiles, and Lincoln pavers.  Used in a wide range of interior and exterior applications Mexican pavers are manufactured with clay.  Arto tiles are offered in colors and styles inspired by Mexican pavers and are manufactured with concrete for greater durability.

Old World tiles

Old World tiles are designed to evoke the warmth and charm of tiles handcrafted decades or even centuries ago.  Like Old World tiles Arto tiles are characterized by their handcrafted construction and the unique appearance that is only possible due to the human touch of the artisan.

Patio tiles

Patio tile, as the name notes, is intended for use in patios, plazas, and other exterior areas.  All Arto tiles can be used as patio tiles because they are handcrafted using durable concrete but are equally suitable for interior use.

Paver tiles

Paver tiles are designed simply to pave various areas including walkways, patios, driveways, and plazas.  The term “paver tile” refers to the tile’s most common applications but does not mean that the tile can not be installed in other applications.

Paver tiles can be used in interior applications or on vertical surfaces both interior and exterior.

Rustic tiles

Rustic tile is characterized by an aged, antiqued appearance.  All Arto tiles are handcrafted for a rustic tile feel but the extent of the rustic appearance is also determined by the color, style, and texture specified.
