UPDATE 7-19 Kaleidoscope

On June 21, 2016 by armen

7-19-16

It is official. The name for this collection is Kaleidoscope. I was surprised by how many said not to name it Alhambra or similar. The reasoning was that it would get lost in the sea of products of similar names and in turn not get discovered. A quick tally has the three most popular as Kaleidoscope, Estrella ( or Star of Some Sort ) & Alhambra. Another item we took from the survey is the naming convention using seasons. I can see adding more seasons and possibly weather names like squall.

Below is Version 2 of the Story Board. Below it is the other color ways.

Colors could be: Black: Granada Nights, Blue: Musical Fountains, Multi Color: Alcazaba’s Fortress.

I’ve been to Alahambra and the tile immediately reminded me of the arched walls and ceilings of the halls of the palace.

    Love it.

    “Gates of Vienna”. ??

All those other names have been used a hundred times by tile makers and will not distinguish your product at all, but make it fall into an abyss with a multitude of tile manufacturers who’ve already used them.

I would call it “Dizzy Daisies”.

Hi Armen! This collection reminds of many places I saw when visiting Morocco. How about naming it after one of the famous cities? Marrakesh, Fes, Casablanca? Or the Roman ruins of Volubilis? It is the farthest known settlement of the Romans during their heyday. Very cool place to visit as well. Gave me chills just being there!! Good luck with your naming.

“Seasons” and each color way would be fall, winter, summer, spring (top to bottom)

I see stars in the patterns and what appear to be rays emanating from the stars. So perhaps the starburst collection, or stellar collection.

    Peace!

I would call it Serlagio because it reminds me of the beautiful mosaic decor in the palaces of the Sultan in Turkey.

    ESTRELLA

Which is star in Spanish. that’s what this looks like.

    FUEGO

It also looks like fireworks, so I say just fuego, which I believe is fire.

Beautiful products hope to get samples soon

I would call this one “Tangier”. It’s just got that Anthony Bourdain flavor!

I think it should be called The High Atlas Collection. Named after the mountain range in central Morocco. That way you can name the patterns after beautiful places in Morocco (Marrakesh, Tangier, Fez, Tetouan, or Meknes).

    How about the name “Galaxy”?

  • IAN GALLAGHER June 21, 2016 at 3:39 pm Reply

I believe this pattern should be called “Roycroftian” or “Craft Art”
    It reminds me of them.

How about Crown Jewels or Daisies?

Whatever name they find, they are gorgeous.

  • Tony unruh June 21, 2016 at 2:59 pm Reply

Arabesque, and maybe due to the current paranoid culture we are currently undergoing with the misunderstanding of the middle east…..maybe Morrocan star! Lattice is way too boring…(sorry, but it does not dedcribe anything) send samples please. Tony

    Maybe Ishtar? Granada? Shakir?

  • Candace June 21, 2016 at 2:50 pm Reply

I like Taza, the tile has a very Moroccan feel to me and that is a city in morrocco but not so obvious as the more well known cities.
