Learning with ARTO – Pepperdine, USC, Scripps College
On January 3, 2018 by ARTOARTO tiles can be found in hotels, estates, restaurants, retail stores, and even in prestigious universities. The educational projects detailed below include a renovated library, a brand new academic building, and a restoration of historic residence halls.
The common thread that binds these diverse projects is they are distinguished thanks to our vast selection of standard sizes, shapes, colors, and textures and supplemented by our custom capabilities if needed.
Pepperdine University – Payson Library was recently renovated and now features Artillo Hexagon concrete tiles in Spanish Cotto in the interior and exterior entryways. The front desk is highlighted with Mini Conche ceramic tiles in Sierra Snow and fireplaces have Spanish Cotto tiles paired with hand painted ceramic deco tiles. The stairways feature Spanish Cotto stairtreads and decos on the risers, including custom decos featuring Bible verses selected by Pepperdine.
USC – Fertitta Hall is a brand new building that dramatically expands the Marshall School of Business. The lounge features a fireplace adorned with 3D Ceramic Buckle tiles in dazzling Cadmium Red. In a typical installation the tile edges would not be exposed but ARTO provided full glazed edges to provide a finished look for the fireplace opening.
Scripps College – Browning and Dorsey Residence Halls were dedicated in 1929 and 1930, respectively. Monrovia hexagons, octagons, and square tiles in Braun were specified to preserve the historic character of these buildings. These high fired, handcrafted terracotta tiles provide a unique combination of durability and historical authenticity but are also available in over 75 glaze colors for projects traditional to modern and everywhere in between.
